I have decided to make a compilation of wandering, unfinished thoughts. For the past blog posts, I have thought deeply about each idea that I have come across. Days of pondering and making sense of concepts. However, in light of today’s ounce of rebellion, I am switching it up. Any thought that has burrowed in my head today, I have jotted down. Some are short, others have long threads that end up leading nowhere. Enjoy them below.
- I watched a video from a Buddhist monk this morning (I do not know the reputability of the source). The monk stated that because “Nir” means nothing and “vana” equates to everything, Nirvana describes a state where everything is nothing. This description can be heavily analyzed but to me, I immediately latched on to thoughts about materialism. Material satisfaction only lasts seconds while experiencing remains ingrained in your mind. Then, I thought about how overwhelming stress about every tiny detail of the future does not make the future any less unpredictable.
- I decided to listen to Nothing Can Change This Love from Sam Cooke so randomly. I believe that I am in the Spotify era of my life now. This song elevates deep thought sessions and nostalgia bringing warmth to one’s soul.
- Sticking my head out of the safari truck, wind blowing my hair, face getting cold, looking out into the distance. Oh how limitless I felt at that moment!
- The safari guide dropped many facts on our rides today. My attention was caught most by the giraffe’s heart weight fact; giraffes on average have a heart weight of 12 to 15 kg. For humans, the heart can mean both the physical organ and metaphysical center of human experience, emotions and soul. Maybe if giraffes have bigger and heavier hearts than humans, could their emotional center contain more depth and breadth? These are just thoughts! In more seriousness, the giraffes today reminded me of my sister. Giraffes are her favorite animal so I wish she could have seen them in the wild with us today.
- I know it is very stereotypical of an Angelino but I could not help myself this morning. I needed to get the Green Juice available. As I took a sip, I immediately compared it to the one my mom makes at home. It is too sweet, watered down and lacks the bitter taste I say to myself. I felt as though this Green Juice is a metaphor for the new changes I have experienced. Nonetheless, I see aspects of home everywhere I go.
- Whenever Spa is mentioned, I get reminded of how ticklish I am. Literally every time I convince my sister to give me a neck massage, which is quite hard by the way, the massage does not last more than mere seconds because I cannot control my laughter. I always attempt to not laugh but it is genuinely so hard! Nevertheless, my sister and I laugh so much at these attempts that I have grown to appreciate this lack of control because it brings sprinkles of joy in our lives.
THOUGHTS! THOUGHTS! THOUGHTS!
